Second Open Call for Grassroots Projects Grants

Applications for the second open call period of the Grassroots Projects Grants have started. Designed to reach individuals and initiatives that have an impact on local communities and audiences, the Grassroots Projects Grants aim to provide comprehensive and flexible funding for cultural projects that focus on social issues and encourage dialogue. Applications for the second open call period of the Grassroots Projects Grants, which supports culture and arts projects that respond to the needs of local communities, started on Monday, 7 March 2022 and will end on Monday, 11 April 2022, at 18.00.

The Grassroots Projects Grants aim to provide and to democratise access to cultural funding for smaller cultural organisations, operators and activists in promoting tolerance, non-discrimination, freedom of expression, and democratic processes in the shrinking civic space of Turkey.

Civil society organisations, initiatives, and all individuals who want to produce projects with a nonprofit mindset can apply for the Grassroots Projects Grants. While an application can be made with a co-applicant and/or affiliate, applicants are expected to document their activities in the field of culture and arts for at least 2 years. Projects eligible for funding include workshops, seminars, symposiums, concerts, performances, theatre productions, educational programmes in all fields of art, journalistic work and documentaries, collections and archiving projects as well as film productions.

The primary goal of CultureCIVIC is to reach beyond big cities and reach institutions and individuals who do not have or have limited access to financial resources. For this purpose, a quota is applied to applications from major cities in all grant programs. 16 of the 24 projects to be supported by the Grassroots Projects Grants will be selected from among the applications made from cities other than Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.

Applications can be made through the Application Portal. Candidates can find detailed information about the conditions on the Application Guide and Frequently Asked Questions pages. Applications started on Monday, March 7, 2022 and will end on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 18:00.
