CultureCIVIC: Capacity Building Programme held an online workshop entitled How Does Culture Work? How to Work on Culture? Workshop on 19, 20 and 26 March from 10:00 to 16:00.

Designed in collaboration with academician and researcher Ayça İnce, How Does Culture Work? How to Work on Culture? Workshop focused on the latest discussions on popular, high, low and interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary studies. Dr. Ayça İnce delivered a presentation entitled "From Cultural Studies to Cultural Policy Studies", writer and musician Bülent Somay questioned the meaning of cultural studies today, and instructor-artist Bager Akbay focused on the journey where research, design and art production processes are intertwined. After each presentation, the presentations was discussed together with the participants in detail in the "deep diving" sessions. The workshop closed with the participatory sessions of "Forum Theatre" facilitated by Aylin Vartanyan, who works in the fields of expressive arts and social transformation.

CultureCIVIC: Capacity Building Programme

CultureCIVIC, a European Union project, organises online workshops where it provides training support to artists, culture and arts initiatives and civil society operators from different regions of Turkey. The 12 workshops, which form the backbone of the CultureCIVIC: Capacity Building Programme, will be held throughout 2022 and 2023. The workshops aim to create the pivotal ground for cooperation and dialogue among the participants, carrying out studies that improve the skills of the participants in cultural management and civic participation. Individuals who design and manage culture-art-based projects in public or civil society organisations, culture-art institutions, universities or independently can apply to the workshops, which are organised by CultureCIVIC's executive partners, Goethe-Institut Istanbul, Anadolu Kültür and Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV).
