DÎWAN- International Theatre Academy
(DÎWAN- Akademîya Navneteweyî ya Şanoyê)

October 2023 - October 2024
BATMAN

DÎWAN- International Theatre Academy is a theatre school project with Şermola Performance organization. The language of instruction at the school is Kurdish. The study method called “Dîwan” developed by Mirza Metin, which is based on transforming the vocal, physical and structural characteristics of the traditional theatre and cultural forms of the Kurds into acting education, establishes the basis of our curriculum.

Through Dîwan Academy, there will be collaborations with both foreign theatre education institutions and expert trainers. So, different theatre techniques and methods will be brought to Batman. In addition, thanks to the relations and collaborations to be established, studies will be carried out to ensure the visibility of the Dîwan study method and its school abroad, thus attracting the attention of theatre students abroad and ensuring that they come to Batman.

Dîwan Academy will prioritize women, children, youth, workers and people with different sexual identities, and will also keep its doors open to theatre groups in Batman and artists from different disciplines.

It is aimed to transform Dîwan Academy into an international theatre and performance research centre in the long term.
