Echo Chamber

December 2025 - November 2026
İSTANBUL

Echo Chamber is a research-based project focused on sound, music, and collective production practices, developed within the independent cultural space -1 in Galata, Istanbul. Since 2015, -1 has sustained itself through volunteer-based and collective labor, forming its community organically around music performances, workshops, film screenings, and performative works, and operating today as a membership-based, solidarity-driven structure.

Echo Chamber is positioned as a space of work and exchange that emerges from this accumulated experience and continuity. The project brings together concerts, performances, music and sound recordings, workshops, and film screenings alongside panels, open discussions, and radio and podcast broadcasts. These formats are conceived as coexisting practices within the same space, emphasizing continuity rather than isolated events. Echo Chamber develops within a living ecosystem that includes artist studios and a building inhabited by artists who live and work on site. Everyday practices of production, rehearsal, recording, and sharing shape the social and cultural ground of the project.
The spatial setup extends beyond events to include shared social areas that support everyday interaction and collective use. These areas foster an environment oriented toward research and exchange, where knowledge and experience circulate across different practices. In this sense,

Echo Chamber functions not as an event series, but as a continuous working space that deepens
-1's approach to collective production and shared use.
