Film Workshops in the Same Situation

September 2025 - February 2026
HATAY

Film Workshops in the Same Situation consist of creative filmmaking workshops organised with the participation of young people living in the districts of Antakya, Defne and Samandağ in Hatay. Shaped around themes such as post-earthquake social memory, solidarity, place and identity, these workshops aim to enable young participants to express their own stories through cinema. The workshops, to be conducted as part of the project, focus on fundamental training in cinematic language, camera use, editing and narrative structure, as well as collective production and participatory methods.

It is planned that the short films and documentaries produced at the end of the workshop process will be presented to the public through local screenings and will also be made available in a digital archive, thereby contributing to Hatay's cultural resilience.

Furthermore, the project aims to increase the artistic production capacity of the Zenginler Workshop Culture and Arts Association, which lost its physical infrastructure and equipment due to the earthquake, thereby contributing to the reconstruction of the local cultural infrastructure. In this context, the provision of basic technical equipment is planned to strengthen the association's sustainable cultural activities.

Zenginler Workshop Culture and Arts Association

The Zenginler Workshop Culture and Arts Association is a production collective established in 2012 by residents of the Zenginler Neighbourhood, known for its Old Antakya houses, located in Antakya. This locally-based initiative has evolved into a civil society structure that aims to strengthen social memory through cultural production, bring local communities together through artistic expression, and expand the voice and representation of vulnerable groups in particular. Through projects conducted using participatory methods, it aims to create a cultural space that is responsive to local needs, pluralistic, and transformative.
