Kaş Theatre Days is a free, open-to-all, volunteer-based arts organization that aims to reduce inequality in access to cultural rights by bringing together high-quality arts events, concentrated in metropolitan areas, with regional audiences.
Positioning Kaş as a cultural hub for gathering and sharing, the event aims to reach the size of a rich festival, expanding from the town centre to its villages. It aims to foster the formation of local theatre/performance groups, contribute to the strengthening of existing ones, and create an alternative venue for innovative theatre production at the national level.
Held for the fourth time, Kaş Theatre Days focused on Kaş's endangered natural environment due to the climate crisis and global tourism, its declining biodiversity, and its rapidly disappearing natural and cultural heritage due to the rapidly growing tourism market. It also provided space and visibility for innovative productions by independent performance groups within the increasingly narrow realm of performance. In this context, KTG invited 15 theater companies and artists from Istanbul and Eskişehir, as well as Europe, to participate in the event, hosting over forty artists in total. Three plays were performed at the two-thousand-year-old Antiphellos ancient theater, the main stage; one play, titled "Genç Sahne (Young Stage)," was performed at the Kaş Municipality Culture House; children's plays were performed in three remote villages of Kaş in collaboration with the Sosyal Oyun Sokakta (Social Play in the Streets) team; and five public and participatory performances with local artists, were included in the program.
