The project explores Ayla Sökemen, a female artist with Down syndrome, as she strives to establish her own place in the art world, her resistance to invisible barriers, and her struggle for survival.
The project highlights the social and cultural rights of individuals with disabilities, advocating for their right to express themselves through art, create, and be visible in public spaces. Furthermore, the artist's female nature makes the project meaningful within the framework of gender equality. In this respect, the project aims to increase the visibility of women with disabilities and combat double discrimination, making a concrete contribution to the concept of gender justice.
The documentary that will emerge at the end of the project will not only tell Ayla's story, but will also reveal the potential of individuals in similar situations and challenge preconceptions about their ability to create art, thereby creating a powerful awareness within their families and society. It will serve as an important example in this field.
