Tirş û Tehl Stand-Up Festival

10-14 December 2025
BATMAN

This project is a five-day stand-up festival aimed at supporting the development of Kurdish humour and the diversification of narratives, creating a space for young comedians, and promoting visibility of native-language artistic production.

The festival will feature professional and amateur performances, open-mic events, and workshops. Open to all and egalitarian, this festival revives social memory and strengthens cultural diversity through humor, enabling Kurdish to reach a wider audience as a language of artistic expression.

Tirş û Tehl

Launched in 2022 in Batman under the umbrella of Saqo Collective, Tirş û Tehl is the first open-mic stand-up collective in Kurdish. For three years, the collective has been organizing regular events, creating spaces for self-expression through humor. Their goal is to provide emerging comedians with stage experience and to spread Kurdish comedic culture to a wider audience. At these events, which are open to everyone, they share the stage equitably, regardless of gender, faith, or ideology, and take an artistic stance against assimilation policies, strengthening collective memory and cultural expression through the power of humor.
