Cultureschack

With this project, Kültürhane carries its effort to create a unique pluralistic community through cultural and artistic events in Mersin to a new level. The area, built with the design of TECE Architecture and the support of Mersin Yenişehir Municipality using used commercial containers, will include a multi-purpose hall, repair, art and children's workshops, a furniture library and basic living facilities. In addition to claiming to create a community by hosting events where different segments can meet, it will offer the opportunity for existing communities and organizations to organize their meetings and events. The venue will provide logistical support to individuals and institutions working in the disaster area, especially in light of the strategic importance Mersin gained after the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake, and will contribute to the rehabilitation of earthquake victims who took refuge in Mersin. This large-scale project, financed by the European Union CultureCIVIC, Civil Society Support Foundation, Fondation de France, Research Institute on Turkey and SAHA Association, and the equity capital of Kültürhane. The venue will be put into service at the end of 2023.

Kültürhane

Since its opening in 2017, Kültürhane seeks to create a physical, local and public space by organising talks, screenings, recitals, workshops, exhibitions and festivals that cater to diverse groups in society. Kültürhane is a cafe-library in Mersin that aims to amplify its public space to a wider audience over the internet by transferring its activities to digital platforms as much as possible.
