Improving the Physical Conditions of Çıplak Ayaklar Studio

Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2023 in the field of culture and arts, Çıplak Ayaklar Dance Company (ÇAK / 2003) continues to run as a collective. ÇAK established a studio in 2007 in Tophane, which was converted from an old iron workshop. The studio has hosted numerous shows, workshops, concerts, meetings and contemporary dance classes in its 16-year history.
This project is designed to improve the studio conditions for the winter months, to solve the heating problem and to provide the furniture and equipment that the studio needs, in order for the studio to be used more actively by both the members of the Company, related artists as well as many dance artists.
Çıplak Ayaklar Dance Company
Çıplak Ayaklar Dance Company, which is a dream land, was founded in 2003 in Beyoğlu, Istanbul. The company, mostly consisting of dancers with the background on contemporary dance, started its independent productions with the first shows titled Why, İnçu, Çima, Why..., Mehmet Barış‘ı Seviyor (Mehmet Loves Barış), Engin-ar, Şehirde (In the City), Ters Okyanus (Reverse Ocean), Kontrol, Sen Balık Değilsin ki (You Are Not a Fish At All), Kız Doğdu (It is A Girl), Tüh! (Shucks!), Hayat Ağacı (The Tree of Life), Gomidas’la Yolculuk (Journey with Gomitas), Hiç Birşey Yerinde Değil (Nothing Is In Its Place), Gölge Veri (Shadow Data), Taşıdıklarımız (What We Carry).
Throughout its journey, the studio has given importance to the continuity of production through sharing and tried to create its own language. This production expanded in the axes of body, movement, shows and workshops, allowing the company to create its own audience and to bring amateur and professional dancers into the field.
Today, it continues to chase a dream land and dance while running.
