Natural resources, ecological balance, and living spaces are under all-out attack across Türkiye. The latest draft Mining Law, currently being pushed through Parliament, further darkens this picture. Meanwhile, the flames of resistance have spread everywhere. Local people, environmental activists, experts working in these fields, and lawyers are fighting to prevent destruction and protect their habitats in numerous areas, from hydroelectric power plants to mines, olive groves to thermal power plants, wind power plants to garbage imports. The need for greater dialogue and collaboration among all these local struggles, the sharing of experience, and the development and widespread adoption of horizontal ecological organization seem urgent.

The World We Consume: Documentarist Ecology Meetings project is a year-long program of film screenings and events spanning 14 cities, bringing documentaries exploring environmental issues beyond major cities to cities and districts experiencing similar challenges. In addition to screenings, a key component of the project will be panels and forums where environmental organizations will meet to share experiences and discuss collaboration opportunities. Video activism workshops will also be held for aspiring documentarians and citizen journalists.

With over 20 participants, the project aims to continue the "No Other World" project, which toured 10 cities in 2024 with support from the Intercity Network Development Grant Program-3. It also aims to expand the program and expand the number of venues, collaborating with relevant municipalities and local institutions to ensure the long-term continuity of the event.

Eurasian Art Collective Association

The Documentarist Istanbul Documentary Days, organized since 2008 under the umbrella of the Eurasian Art Collective Association (ASK), is Türkiye's most comprehensive documentary festival. Each year, the festival presents documentaries selected from among the world's most important productions and master documentarians, as well as a wide selection of films from Türkiye. While non-competitive, it awards special awards, such as the Johan van der Keuken New Talent Award, to support young documentarians. The festival team also organizes side events such as the Which Human Rights? Film Festival held in December as a sister festival and the SaturDox Documentary Meetings in collaboration with Tütün Deposu.
