Third Absence from Home

The massacre, which took place in the Yörük Selim neighbourhood of Kahramanmaraş in 1978 and known as the 'Maraş Incidents', caused many people to lose their lives, and more people to lose their homes and properties, and migration. It is obvious that women and children are the ones most affected by the war and such incidents. The Third Absence from Home is a documentary film project trying to record the traumas of women who experienced the Maraş incidents by tracing down the women who still reside in Maraş as well as who have immigrated from Maraş.

Mediha Güzelgün

She was born in 1991 in Kahramanmaraş. She completed her bachelor's degree in form tutorship and sociology. She continues her master's degree in Mardin Artuklu University, Communication Design Department. She has been working as a teacher in Mardin since 2015. She worked as assistant director in various films. The movie "Uzay, Fehmi ve Şehrin Sırları” (Uzay, Fehmi and the Secrets of the City) she directed in 2020, was screened in various festivals.
