Cultural Preservation and Interaction

December 2023 - December 2024
İSTANBUL

This project aims to make the personal and institutional archives, libraries and collections -collected under the roof of the Yesayan Culture and Literature Association- open and public as well as publicize it. More than 6000 books, thousands of issues of more than 200 periodicals, manuscripts, thousands of clippings, photographs, maps, letters, posters, brochures, audio and video recordings mostly in Western Armenian, which is one of Turkey's minority languages, and is considered 'endangered' by UNESCO. Thanks to this project, the Yesayan Association library and archive will be protected and usable, and will be accessible both physically and online. A multifunctional space will be created within the scope of this project. This space can be used as the association headquarters, for closed meetings, public events, studio recordings and also as a working-reading area. This multicultural and multifunctional area, which can be used by young people from the Armenian community of Istanbul, women, children, will be a step towards filling an important deficiency.
