Beats By Girlz Turkey Festival is a summit that enables women to encounter creative experiments in the field of music and technology, and to discover new ideas that inspires them while acting with the principles of gender equality and sustainability. Aiming to bring together artists, technology experts, educators and creative figures from every region of Turkey, the festival aimed to create a music and technology community that respects gender equality throughout Turkey. One of the important features of the festival is that it is designed with a preliminary preparation process in which young women take an active role in decision-making processes and can express their own needs. Its effect in the Turkish context is that it will serve a long-term community development and invite industry stakeholders to take a step towards gender equality in the field of music and technology.

The speeches, workshops and inspiring performances that took place at the festival aimed to enable young women to develop their perspectives in the field of music and technology. The festival also established a creative space & stage where different disciplines come together for speakers, workshop coordinators and musicians. Covering a wide audience from the festival team to the audience, instructors, speakers and performers, Beats By Girlz Turkey Festival created a collective space for new ideas to flourish in the fields of music and technology with a gender aware perspective.

Beats By Girlz Turkey 

Beats By Girlz Turkey is a part of the Beats By Girlz global network operating in thirty-five centers in different parts of the world. It works to protect the rights of women and girls in the field of music and technology and to increase their access to the sector. It prepares educational programs and creative content for girls, women and non-binary individuals to gain the technical skills necessary to exist in areas where technology and creativity meet, creates a community for gender equality in the music industry and carries out visibility activities in the music industry where women are not equally represented. Directed by musician and sound designer Beril Sarıaltun, Beats By Girlz Turkey started its activities with an online launch event in June 2021. With the projects it has developed so far, it aims to develop the women of the next generation and those who define themselves as non-binary, through music and technology. With this vision, it provides the necessary tools for women to encourage development, creates resources, organizes trainings and creates a gender sensitive music and technology community.
